GUTHRIE CORRIDOR EXPRESSWAY

A Short Cut to North and South

GCE aspires to unravel the overcrowding traffic crisis at certain bottleneck areas while providing an infrastructure access for future developments between Shah Alam and Rawang. The 22.65km expessway has 9 interchanges beginning from Shah Alam before exiting into the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR) and the North-South Expressway (NSE). The 3-lane dual carriageway expressway is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities while all three (3) of GCE’s open system toll plazas are located at Bukit Jelutong, Elmina and Lagong.

GCE’s serves as a catalyst for the developments within the surrounding areas. Located at the western side of the total Klang Valley infrastructure development, Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) presents a pleasant alternative to the existing road networks. GCE forms the western link of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road and complements the North-South Expressway State Road B9 (Jalan Batu Tiga – Sungai Buloh) and Federal Road FT54 (Jalan Kuala Selangor – Sungai Buloh).

The expressway is also connected to the North-South Expressway (NSE)’s Exit and Entrance 115 via the Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR).

As GCE transforms into a crucial access routes for developments along its alignment, PROLINTAS has implemented various strategies to continually develop the expressway, and improve traffic flow and maintenance systems.

Maintenance

The maintenance of the expressway is constantly and consistently being carried out to provide motorists with the best driving experience we can offer. Maintenance activities include inspection at various key areas such as road conditions, rest and service areas, lay-by area, motorcycle shelters, generator set, Automatic Lane Barrier (ALB), street lighting as well as landscaping upkeep.

New Features

Most recently, all street lighting at GCE has been converted to LED lighting making energy consumption more efficient with lower impact on the environment.

It has also placed self-service kiosks at the various key locations for reload purposes as.

Contra flow during peak hours was introduced to reduce congestions on the highway exiting into Shah Alam roads. Adopting the fish bone concept, additional toll lanes were built at the Bukit Jelutong Toll Plaza (North bound) to cater to the growing demands during peak hours headed North.
